Ingredients
For Cooking the Dal
- 150 g toor dal (split pigeon peas)— washed and soaked 30 mins
- 50 g yellow moong dal (split mung)— washed and soaked with toor dal for creaminess
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder— bright yellow
- 1 tsp salt— to taste
- 3.5 cups water— for boiling
- 1 tsp ginger— finely grated
For the Base Masala
- 1 tbsp ghee or oil— for sautéing

- 2 medium tomatoes— finely chopped
